Many local distributors were exhibiting products for the first time in Asia, such as Singapore based Team 108, whose stand featured the Adamson SpekTrix line array system and subs, the DiGiCo D5-56EX digital console, Genelec 8000 Series of monitors and Merging Technologies' Pyramix V5.0.
Electronics & Engineering occupied an entire aisle encompassing 20 stands featuring Harman brands JBL, Crown, Soundcraft, dbx and BSS, as well as Shure, Tascam, Rane and König & Meyer. Exhibiting for the first time in Asia with E&E was Italian cable manufacturer Reference Labs, signed up by E&E at Winter NAMM show in January.New Singaporean distributor Coda Audio Services was exhibiting at PALA alongside Aviom's director of international sales Joel Brazy to showcase the company's personal monitor and distributed audio network products. Information was also available on the new AN-16/i-M mic input module, in production in August. Coda was appointed exclusive Aviom distributor for Singapore and Malaysia in March and has since become a Meyer distributor.
Peak Fusion was attending its first joint show with Kling & Freitag which the Singapore-based company has represented since December. Peak Fusion is anticipating that the market for installation speakers will be good in Malaysia, especially in the church sector.
Being shown for the first time in Asia by Telex Communications was the Midas Verona console, together with the Klark Teknik DN9340 Helix digital equalizer and DN370 graphic equalizer, plus P3000 RL remote control amps from EV's Precision Series range. Digistar, the Malaysian distributor for Australian Monitor, Apogee and Biamp Systems, was showing the Australian Monitor Digi Page system for the first time in Asia and attracting much attention.
d&b displayed a range of its speaker products alongside Acoustic & Lighting System which has just been appointed the manufacturer's new key distributor for Western Malaysia. New to Asia was the Rope C remote control and monitoring software, the Q Series speaker range and the D12 2-channel amp.
Electro-System Industries showed the Innovason Sy80 digital console - the first time the brand has been seen at an Asian show, following the Singaporean distributor's appointment at the Frankfurt ProLight & Sound show in March.
Outside the venue, Martin Audio was demonstrating its line array system with a single drop of six W8LC cabinets. "It's been a good opportunity for us to demonstrate this system to the Asian market in an outdoor setting, and it's resulted in some serious enquiries from local rental companies," said Martin's Peter Owen.
Meanwhile indoors, Turbosound was demo'ing the TA-890H mid/high units from its Aspect arrayable point source system as well as debuting in Asia the TXD-218 subwoofer, plus the QLight TQ-310 passive 2-way and TQ-310DP digital self-powered cabinets.
Across the hall, Meyer Sound had details of its brand new MILO 120 high power expanded coverage curvilinear system for wide horizontal and increased vertical coverage, and launched its 700-HP high power subwoofer.Celebrating 20 years of live sound design this summer, Cadac showed its analogue S-Type compact live production console and R-Type touring live production console alongside the production version of the D16 digital input mix m
