With the proliferation of new lighting technologies in entertainment - from television and film to theatre productions, concerts and themed restaurants - Philips "recognises the needs of designers who require end-to-end solutions to achieve unique designs and effects". As a result, the company assembled a product portfolio that now encompasses everything from lamps and luminaires to complete systems with advanced control - some of which are long-standing market leaders now backed by the strength and worldwide reach of the Philips brand. All are designed specifically to address the needs of the entertainment lighting community; whether to simplify installation for touring, manage large permanent installations or facilitate LED system control.
Product highlights displayed at PLASA will include:
Philips Color Kinetics: ColorReach TR Powercore is a new, road-ready floodlight designed to withstand the rigours of temporary and touring applications. With high output of 5,200 lumens, light projection of over 500ft, and a 5° native beam angle, it is powerful enough to replace multiple flood and wash fixtures for brilliant large-scale and long-throw stage applications. The luminaire directly accepts line voltage and offers special features for ease of installation, along with the ability to produce millions of saturated colours without gels or filters.
Philips Selecon: Theatre on the Inside is the theme of the company's new Display Profile spot. Designed around the core principles of precision, performance, simplicity and safety, the Display Profile combines high output and beam quality with the capability to manage, record and maintain design specifications, control and consistency. Available with a range of incandescent and metal halide lamps, the Display Spot delivers precise clear light to meet users' needs.
Philips Strand Lighting: Vision.net lighting control systems provide solutions to users' backstage and front of house lighting control needs. These fully programmable systems provide a full range of control for switching worklights and dimming house and lobby lighting. In addition, new Strand System Builder software can help users with the planning and lay-out of new lighting systems.
Philips Vari-lite: The VLX Wash luminaire is the first LED-based offering from Vari-Lite. The luminaire consumes 840 watts at full intensity, yielding three times the lumen efficiency of an equivalent tungsten source.
Philips Special Lighting: The Philips FastFit range of lamps has grown tremendously since its introduction in 2006, and today enables more than 70 fixtures delivered to market by 20 OEM partners. Philips recently expanded the lower wattage group of the FastFit range. A smaller lamp base, called MiniFastFit, is designed to accommodate more compact fixtures.
