UK - Production Park has announced its first major TV commission after Warp Films, Plan B and Matriarch Productions chose it as the production base for new Netflix drama, Adolescence.

The one-shot crime drama will be fronted by an A list cast including Stephen Graham (Boiling Point, Bodies), Ashley Walters (Top Boy) and Erin Doherty (The Crown). Produced by Sheffield-based Warp Films, Matriarch Productions and Plan B for Netflix, Adolescence tells the story of a family’s trauma when a 13-year-old is arrested for the murder of a teenage girl.

Australia - The Hordern Pavilion, often referred to as ‘The Hordern’, is one of Sydney's most historically significant landmark venues. Originally opened in 1924, it now regularly hosts live performances, dance parties, sports tournaments, trade shows, conferences, and a variety of other events.

Recently, the venue unveiled a new house lighting scheme featuring 46 Anolis Ambiane RGBW XPs, specified and installed by SimpleMotion Lighting (SML), a specialist in venue infrastructure lighting.

USA - Film composer Hans Zimmer brought his hit tour, Hans Zimmer Live, to North America this autumn with arena dates across the United States and Canada, supported by Orlando, Florida-based LMG Touring.

UK - Recently opened in Oxford, leisure venue Gallery Bouldering was determined its audio system would not be a mountain to climb, and so turned to Optimal Audio’s commercial audio ecosystem to meet its various needs.

Gallery Bouldering’s facilities include a 100m expanse of bouldering wall and a dedicated gym space plus a café. Favouring background music during the day, of differing intensities by zone, there was a requirement for the audio to support the big-screen action during major sporting events.

The Netherlands - One of the more unusual venues that has recently been installed with a Martin Audio CDD sound solution is a hybrid wedding venue and town hall council chamber, situated in the municipality of Borsele.

Martin Audio partners and audio-visual specialists, FvL Audio, carried out the installation at the venue, known as ‘De Boerderij’ – a traditional-style, 100-year-old farmhouse.

Over the years, FvL owner Frank van Loenhout says his company has carried out multiple touchscreen installations in Borsele, which is located on a central location in the province of Zeeland. He has also undertaken numerous other upgrades in the neighbouring municipalities in the region “although mostly the audio systems were not as old as here!”

USA - Benedictine Military School, an all-male, Catholic preparatory day school for grades 9-12 in Savannah, Georgia, has a rich history. Established in 1902 as Benedictine College, it was organised on a military basis in the Southern military tradition of VMI and The Citadel.

The existing Modernist campus, completed in 1964, was designed to reflect the military heritage of the then-60-year-old school and uphold the monastic traditions of the nearly 1,500-year-old Order of St. Benedict. The school recently upgraded the audio system in their multi-purpose gymnasium by deploying amplifiers from LEA Professional.

UAE - INFiLED provided the backbone for Jason Derulo’s performance at EarthSoul, the region’s premier eco-conscious music festival, which made its debut at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena few months ago.

Aligning with the UAE’s Year of Sustainability, EarthSoul also featured regional stars like Shae Gill, Arqam, and Celine Dee Matahari, who added to the excitement of the night.

World - Pearl Jam embarked on their Dark Matter world tour in May, sharing their introspective brand of rock with audiences across North America and Europe before heading to New Zealand and Australia in November. Lighting designer Kille Knobel has worked with the band since 2000 and complements the Dark Matter shows with a minimalist yet impactful design that uses Elation KL Panel XL soft lights as a key visual element in creating the distinctive looks.

The show brings video projection to the forefront with soft, organic visuals and minimalist lighting. Romania - In just three years, Constanta’s Beach Please! has become one of the largest urban music festivals in Europe drawing hiphop, pop and electronic headliners. The 2024 show, held 10-14 July, featured a stage spanning 82 x 26m with a lighting rig comprising 430 moving light fixtures.

To match the colossal scale of the production, stage and lighting designer Andrei Predut of Apart Productions brought in 36 Claypaky Skylos, which made their Romanian debut in spectacular fashion.

Predut positioned the Skylos in groups of six placed at key points in the 3D decor. “As soon as we let the beams loose on the sky during the setup and programming time, we got instant reactions of awe,” Predut reports. “Crew from all departments started a pilgrimage to FOH so they could inquire about this never-before-seen breed of fixture.

Germany - On the first evening of Wacken Open Air, German medieval rockers In Extremo headlined on the Louder Stage. The band’s lighting designer, Martin Heining, expanded his design especially for the Wacken show, by including 12 of the new high-performance Creos washlights from GLP, adding onto the already extensive festival design of LD Jerry Appelt. The Creos stood out for their “impressive output and outstanding colour depth”.

Equipped with the latest RGBL LED technology (18 x 40W, arranged in three lines), the Creos offers an impressive variety and intensity of colours. Heining used the weatherproof (IP65) devices to deliver a strong backlight with bold colours, creating impressive depth between the set and the video wall.

USA - North Carolina State University in Raleigh recently renovated the sound system at its Carter-Finley Stadium. Home to the university’s Division I football team and one of the top 80 largest stadiums in the United States, the nearly 57,000-seat stadium has been completely revamped to better reflect the energy and excitement of games, matches, graduations, and other large-scale events. 

The Carter-Finley Stadium required a modern audio system that could handle the scope of needs, as the previous system was outdated, unreliable, and unable to provide the sound clarity and control necessary. Poland - The Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre (Gdański Teatr Szekspirowski) is a Shakespearean theatre in the middle of the thriving industrial port city of Gdansk. Designed by Italian architect Renato Rizzi, it opened in 2014 and is built on the site of a 17th-century theatre, known as the Fencing School, where English travelling players once performed English Renaissance Theatre works.

USA - This month, Rockefeller Centre welcomes its newest addition to New York City: Skylift, perched on top of 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Tishman Speyer, working in partnership with the designers at THG Creative, created a feat of engineering brought to life by the technology-enabled storytellers at TAIT, known for their work on music tours, spectaculars, and attractions around the world.

Skylift allows groups of visitors to be lifted and rotated 30ft above the 70th floor of 30 Rock, also known as Top of the Rock Observation Deck. This offers ‘an unparalleled view’ of the city and a perspective looking down into the streets below. Once elevated, the platform revolves for a 360-degree viewing experience and a panoramic photo moment.

South Korea - Christie has announced that its high-performance HS Series 1DLP laser projectors, Pandoras Box software and Widget Designer are delivering ‘mesmerising visual experiences’ at Museum HEI, the largest media art museum in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province.   

Situated in the Paju Tongildongsan Tourist Special Zone, Museum HEI serves as a cornerstone of Korea’s new Hallyu culture belt, offering immersive, high-tech media art installations. USA - Gamers visiting Arizona’s 98,000sq.ft Talking Stick Resort casino are enjoying an array of high-resolution displays which wrap around each zone to enhance the experience, with twelve Green Hippo Hippotizer Media Servers installed for video duty.   

The luxury complex, which is located on the Salt-River Pima Maricopa Indian Reservation near Scottsdale, is undergoing a major renovation and expansion, with its Arena Poker Room the host for the annual Arizona State and Arizona State Ladies Poker Championships.

The project’s aim was to upgrade the resort’s inefficient and low-quality CMS system, which was not capable of handling the high-resolution graphics files required for the newly installed DVLED walls in multiple locations. UK - Edinburgh College has opened a new Dolby Atmos audio production studio and has installed the Audient Oria immersive audio interface and monitor controller as a key part of the new 7.1.4 setup. 

Head of school media, music & sound production Jonathan Bennett says, “As the industry between media, music and sound production moves more and more towards spatial and interactive audio, it’s brilliant that we’ve been able to realise such an ambitious space such as this one to give our students the skills they need to succeed.”

USA - Full Sail University recently commissioned a new Dolby Atmos-enabled facility for class sessions, workshops, listening experiences and guest lectures at its Winter Park, FL campus. Playout of the ‘objects based’ spatial concept is via 26 carefully selected, and strategically located loudspeakers from the Martin Audio catalogue.

One of the largest, and most advanced Dolby Atmos rooms on a university campus, according to education director of audio arts, Brandon Egerton, this had been a topic of discussion for a number of years. “But we needed to make sure we were wrapping our arms around the right technology. We felt it was important to have a solid understanding of both the emerging technology and also how the industry intended on adopting it and so we intentionally took our time.”

USA - Biamp has announced that its integration partner Design Sound NW (DSNW) has completed its multi-year effort to upgrade the sound systems of the Chiles Centre multi-purpose indoor arena and the Etzel Field baseball stadium located on the University of Portland campus in Portland, Oregon. 

The installations feature various Biamp products, including Tesira digital signal processors (DSPs) and amplifiers, Community IV6 line arrays, Community amplified loudspeaker controllers, and multiple types of Community indoor/outdoor loudspeakers.

The project began in 2021 when the University of Portland first sought to upgrade the sound system at Etzel Field, the home of the university’s baseball team. Saudi Arabia - Prolights products illuminated the world's first WWE Experience, located in the heart of Boulevard City during Riyadh Season. This attraction offers visitors an immersive WWE experience, featuring interactive exhibits and the WWE SuperDome, where fans can create their own characters and step into the ring.

Namibia - The Namibian Oncology Centre offers comprehensive and progressive cancer treatment and care in comfortable, modern surroundings. With facilities in Windhoek, Swakopmund, the opening of a new chemotherapy facility in the capital called for the integration of a new AV system to provide digital signage and entertainment for patients receiving treatment.
