UK - Drapes and rigging specialist Blackout provided extensive draping across five areas of ExCel for the Cisco Live! conference, 30 January - 3 February 2012.

Over 6,000 IT professionals from across the globe attended the event, with prestigious speaker sessions being staged back-to-back across the venue.

Blackout was called in by event agency George P. Johnson for the fifth year running, using drapes across the venue to create bespoke areas for the conference's popular Breakout Sessions, including the creation of three rooms in Capital Hall and a further eight in the South Hall.

The South Hall alone consisted of over eight tonnes of white voile drapes backed with black wool serge, used to create eight equal sized rooms all with a height of over 10 meters.

Larsen came to Clancy in 1987 as a receptionist, and quickly moved up to office manager. In 2001, she went to work for Mike Murphy in engineering and project management, and most recently, she added marketing services to her responsibilities, supervising all advertising, public relations, and marketing activities for the company. UK - The 2012 Laureus World Sports Awards were held on 6 February at Central Hall Westminster, in the heart of London, the first time the UK has hosted this event.

Designed by FPP and produced by Rocket Science, the event was based on the theme of 'Creating the Extraordinary', and took place on 5 January 2012. Paul Hutton, managing director at Blitz, worked closely with the event team as technical consultant for the project.

Staged in the in-field area (inside the track), Blitz provided the video, audio and lighting equipment for the production. Europe - Award-winning set fabrication company, Brilliant Stages, which was recently voted Staging Company of the Year at the Event Production Awards and Favourite Set Construction Company at the TPi Awards, has designed and fabricated four main staging elements for Rammstein's Made In Germany 1995 - 2011 tour, the re-vamped second leg of which is currently touring Europe.

Production and lighting designer, Roy Bennett, worked closely with long-term collaborator, Peter Aquinde, to create an urban set with focal points including a 3.9m diameter industrial theme 'Mega Fan' comprising seven blades on a central cradle. This is driven by a geared slew drive with a top rotation speed of 15rpm.

The central hub is supported by four structural frames and the outer casing fabricated to break down into eight sections assembled with truss connections. These pieces have been welded together

UK - JTE's new innovative Low-Prow pre-rigged moving light truss is currently on tour with Snow Patrol supplied by HSL.

This new versatile truss is made from high load capacity 6061 T6 aluminium and allows lighting to be pre-rigged inside the truss. The 'roll on, roll off' ability dramatically reduces the load in and out times. The trusses with the dollies are on castors and are stackable while being transported and during shows the dollies can be folded and also stacked.

Marns joins J&C Joel after six years working as a commercial litigation and sports lawyer. He has also worked as a UK area manager for a major international supermarket chain.

A decorated sportsman, Marns has played professional rugby for the Halifax Blue Sox during their time in rugby league's Super League and has represented Great Britain at junior level. He currently plays semi-professional rugby union for Hull Ionians.

The drapes were used to mask the ceiling within the Novotel London West Hotel in Hammersmith and were manufactured from Blue Jomeleon (JOM604B), a sheer two-tone Trevira CS voile with fantastic iridescent qualities, particularly when backlit.
