Lighting designer Malcolm Reed chose a mixture of LED and moving heads for the awards, held in London's BFI National Film Theatre. PixelPar 90s, GLP Impressions and Alpha Spot 300s created a classic design.
"The reasoning behind this choice of lighting is quite simple," says Reed. "The theatre has very little power available as the normal use is a cinema and I was limited to a few 13 amp sockets scattered around the auditorium. For me LED's are just the thing, the GLPs enabled me not only to create various colour moods but I also had the versatility of being able to move the lights from area to area of the auditorium, giving excitement and atmosphere of glitz and glamour as nominees step up onto the stage to get presented with an award.
"I used the Alpha Beams in a similar way but also to light up what really was a very dull and boring ceiling. The PixelPar 90s gave up lights of various colour around the auditorium picking out some of the architecture."
