South Africa - Two leading rental companies in Nelspruit have joined forces. Lowveld Sound Promotions officially merged with AVS Hire at the start of June and have made their first combined investment of Prolyte H30V trussing and base plates, supplied by DWR Distribution.

Kyle Nel from AVS and Sakkie Coetzer from Lowveld Sound had often quoted against each other for events. With both young men like-minded in work ethics and each backed up with a good crew, they started playing with the idea of integrating both companies a couple of years ago.

"It's nice to have back up and a person to second guess with," said Kyle. "Together we can become a dot on the map and we can raise the bar as technical suppliers."

Sakkie agreed that the merge would provide a solid infrastructure to enable the supply of large-scale shows or events. The new Prolyte pieces will expand their existin

USA - As two of the music industry's most respected and in-demand sound engineers, Eddie 'El Brujo' Caipo and Brad Divens have worked with some of the world's biggest recording artists. From small intimate theatres to large outdoor stadiums, Caipo and Divens are known for delivering audio quality to both the artist and the audience.

In order to capture that same kind of expansive sound for Latin pop rock superstar Enrique Iglesias' current tour, the duo relies on microphones from DPA Microphones.

"Brad and I have been on tour with Enrique Iglesias and heard a lot of great things about DPA Microphones," says Caipo. "When we were offered a demo package to try out the company's mics, we were thrilled. We were both immediately blown away by the sound. The quality is above and beyond anything we were using in the past. It was immediately obvious that there was no going back to

Lebanon - Professional full-service event production provider CKA recently supplied an Adamson E-Series sound reinforcement system to support the Kohar Symphony Orchestra and Choir. The orchestra and choir performed traditional Armenian music at the Forum de Beirut to a sold out crowd.

"The Forum has a high reverberation time which translates into pretty bad acoustics," explains Chadi Akiki, owner of CKA. "The directionality of the Adamson PA was a tremendous help. The end result was quite exceptional."

CKA hung left and right line arrays, each made up of eight E12 modules, along with a centre cluster of six more E12s. Eight E218 subwoofers created a centre cluster under the stage for additional low end. CKA also utilized eight Metrix line array modules for front-fills along the lip of the stage. Out-fill was handled by left and right arrays of six S10 modules each.

USA - Like many contemporary churches, First Baptist Church of Manchester, Tennessee has undergone a transformation in the style and energy of its services. Years ago, services centred on sermons augmented by music played by organ, piano or choir. Thus, in a room that seats 900, the demands on the sound reinforcement system were rather light. But that has changed - and dramatically.

These days FBC punctuates sermons with a full band comprised of rock 'n roll instruments. The church's old sound reinforcement system couldn't keep up! Audio/video integration firm Centerline Audio Visual, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, stepped in to design simple, yet powerful, stereo reinforcement consisting of two Danley SM-100B full-range loudspeakers buttressed from below by a Danley BC-218 subwoofer, with Ashly Audio nXp-Series network multi-mode amplifiers providing power, integrated DSP, and

USA - Danley Sound Lab has announced that the new Go-2 loudspeaker is now available and shipping. While Danley is known for building unconventional loudspeakers and subs that use innovative technologies (including the massive Jericho Horn employed in many of the world's largest arenas and stadiums) the Go-2 fills a gap at the opposite end of the spectrum, where smaller, low-cost loudspeakers are needed. Importantly - and this is why the research and development took so long - the Go-2 uses Danley's patented Synergy Horn technology in clever ways to give it the sound quality worthy of the Danley name, says the company.

The Go-2 uses injection-moulded cabinets that are constructed, like all Danley molded loudspeakers and subwoofers, in Gainesville, Georgia. While completely at home indoors, both in terms of aesthetics and rigging points, the Go-2 is also impervious to weather an

Australia - Event and PA company, DURT Pty Ltd, chose their Qu and ME systems to manage sound reinforcement for the recent National Mountain Bike Championships in Victoria.

Germany - In the North Rhine Westfalia region, Sound Linear has completed two very different sound reinforcement installations using Nexo's Geo M6 compact line array system. One indoor, one outdoor - one a house of worship, the other a volkstheater; the projects showcase the quality of the M6 for SPL coverage and speech intelligibility.

In the calm and elegant modern interior of Willebadessen's Baptist Church, a high-flying Geo M6 line array is almost invisible in its custom grey colours. The church approached Kalle Hogrefe of Sound Linear, the Paderborn-based installation and rental company, to design a system that would provide smooth and even SPLs to each of the 1500 seats in the sanctuary.

After spending a test weekend with Nexo Geo M620 full-range cabinets, pole-mounted for the evaluation, a favourable decision was made. Hogrefe used Nexo's NS-1 proprietary modelling

National director of communication Mags Patten said the council was "really, really worried" about the issue following the UK's vote to leave the EU, and confirmed ACE was preparing to lobby the government in favour of free movement. Speaking at a London Writers' Week event about the state of the theatre industry, Patten said ACE was uncertain whether UK arts organisations would still have access to European culture funds. She stated, "The other area which really really worries us is freedom of movement. It's a huge concern to us that that is clearly not guaranteed at the moment...We have to be open, we have to be international in our outlook, and the free exchange of artists and ideas is absolutely critical to

Germany - Lawo raised eyebrows and drew plenty of attention in Las Vegas with the introduction of RELAY Virtual Radio Mixer software at NAB 2016. So much attention in fact, that RELAY won a Best Of Show award for introducing broadcasters to the advantages of virtualizing radio studio technology.

USA - When Meytal Cohen, the drummer for and founding member of the heavy metal band Meytal, set out on her US tour, she wanted to go big and provide fans with superior audio quality at each venue. In order to achieve the huge sound she was looking for, Cohen turned to DPA Microphones' d:vote 4099D Instrument Microphones to amplify her drum set.

In 2009 at the age of 20, Cohen moved to Los Angeles and studied percussion at the Los Angeles Music Academy. That year, Cohen and some friends recorded a metal violin cover on video of System of a Down's Toxicity, which she then posted on YouTube. A few months later, the video had three million views and Cohen decided she was going to shoot and post 100 more drum covers to see what happened next. Five years later she has more than 120 videos, 140m views and 900,000 subscribers on YouTube, and more than 1.4m likes on Facebook.
