A major element of this was five columns of 33-string Barco MiSTRIP supplied by XL Video. These were specified by Hardiman, who had been wanting to introduce video to the band's show for some time. THC has been involved with the Lost Prophets' stage visuals throughout the Liberation Transmission world tour, which is now drawing to a close.

The 800 Light Years show is the first UK Son et Lumière to use E//T//C's OnlyView control platform. This is running eight HD Christie S20+ video projectors, montaged together to produce a 64m metre wide by 14m tall image onto the rear face of St George's Hall in central Liverpool.

St George's Hall, designed by Harvey Lonsdale Elmes and originally opened in 1856, is being reopened this week by HRH the Prince of Wales, following an extensive £23 million refurbishment.

Using LED screens means that the old 'paint on plywood' approach of pitch-side advertising hoardings, where one advertising space is limited to one commercial brand, no longer applies. Now sports can generate far more advertising revenue because literally anything can be displayed in any space at any time, says the company.

Sarah Jakubasz, lighting designer for Lightswitch created an overall design that used as many eco-friendly lighting fixtures as possible. Lightswitch designers use eco-friendly fixtures when ever possible on all their projects, says the company. Jakubasz created her design using Color Kinetics' Color Blaze 72s and Color Blast 12s. She also designed custom compact florescent fixtures that were placed on each end of the bars. Lending a hand to this worthy cause was Production Resource Group who provided lighting gear and helped defray some of the rental costs.

The Hong Kong stadium featured a 7 x 7 panels (7.11m width x 5.33m height) R16i/o-II screen; whilst 7 x 6 panels (7.11m width x 4.57m height) of R16i/o-II was positioned in the Sevens Village, an area sited at the India Recreation Club in Happy Valley, adjacent to the main stadium. The theme of the evening was the Four Seasons, and for the room lighting, Hawthorn's LD Matt Oscroft used PAR cans and Selecon Cool 90s, complete with gobo break-ups to change the mood from season to season throughout the ceremony.

Working for The Staging House, Hawthorn also installed a 76ft x 12ft foot stage using its Steeldeck modular staging units, as the stage had to be large enough not only for the live band, but also to hold all of the award winners together for group photos at the end of the awards.

SPS has worked on the IoD flagship event for four years and utilised its extensive experience to design and construct the impressive stage set. SPS used LED screen technology both as a graphic display and a powerful lighting source. This allowed the 2,500 company directors attending the event a clear view of the stage. The company had been seeking a fibre system for audio distribution and freelance sound engineer Steve Ayres was asked by Gearhouse Broadcast's group technical director, Kevin Moorhouse, to investigate the options.
