USA - The Pandoras Box Media Server from Coolux is being used by Geodezik, a Montreal-based multimedia design and production company, to support video projection for ZAIA, Cirque du Soleil's first permanent show in Asia. Staged at The Venetian Macao, ZAIA is the dream of a young girl who journeys into space on a voyage of self-discovery. "Cirque du Soleil's stage productions are distinguished by their artistry and expressive power, and Pandoras Box proved to be a valuable tool in creating a visual narrative for ZAIA," said Jimmy Lakatos, who worked with fellow Geodezik founding member Raymond Saint-Jean to provide video system and content design for ZA

UK - Three dual output Catalyst G5 HD digital media servers formed a fast, flexible control hub driving all the digital lightsources and video surfaces on the set of the new ITV prime time games show, The Colour of Money, presented by Chris Tarrant.

The lighting design developed for the show by Tom Kinane and Svend Pedersen didn't contain a single moving light, and was styled to compliment Patrick Doherty's media-based stage set, and to offer a dramatic presentation departure from previous Chris Tarrant shows.

The Catalysts were supplied by Ross Williams and operated by Pedersen using a WholeHog 3 console, running 16 DMX universes and controlling up to 2060 individual fixtures around Studio 1 at the London Weekend Television HQ on London's South Bank.

Pedersen created approximately 200 custom video clips for the show, many of them involving turning the set into the id

UK - This month, Hever Castle in Kent is hosting a Christmas spectacular featuring carols and music, huskies and illuminated gardens. The Exterior 1200 Image Projector is the newest addition to Martin's Exterior range of outdoor luminaires. Designed for night-time environments with emotional impact, the Exterior 1200 Image Projector brings new elements of drama to outdoor illumination: effects projection and animation, says the company.

USA - Elation Professional has introduced a low-lying fog effect machine that doesn't require dry ice or any connections to external units. The company's Antari DNG-200 Low Fog Generator is a self-contained unit that produces a continuous output of low-lying fog while running on X-Fog Ice fog fluid.

Featuring a 3M fog conducting hose, the DNG-200 creates low-lying fog straight from its nozzle, just like a regular fog machine. With no CO2 installation to hassle with, the DMX-controllable DNG-200 is operator-friendly, says the company.

"Until now, most low-lying fog machines had to use dry ice to generate fog that stays close to the ground," said Eric Loader, director of sales for Elation Professional. "Another alternative was to buy a 'fog chiller' machine that hooked up to your regular fogger and converted its output to ground-type fog. The DNG-200 eliminates b

UK - For the first time in the UK, G-LEC is to open a dedicated sales office. Based in central London, G-LEC UK will manage all sales for architectural and other installations, as well as supporting G-LEC's UK rental partners.

Until now, rental projects have been the focus of G-LEC's business in the UK, but Lars Wolf, managing director of G-LEC Europe, wants to begin to put more emphasis on the company's new architectural products, saying, "Chimera, which we launched at PLASA this year, is a strong product for us. We already have 700sq.m installed in the BMW Museum in Munich, and we are getting a lot of enquiries. We need a full time sales office in England and, as we have other partner companies in Europe and the Americas, it made sense to form G-LEC UK."

As well as managing sales, G-LEC UK will also support the company's existing UK rental partner, Creative Technol

Serbia - Operacija Trijumf is one of Serbia's most popular television shows, combining a singing talent contest with Big Brother-style behind-the-scenes footage of the contestants in their shared house. Forming the backdrop on the stage during the contestants' performances, Lighthouse R10i/o 10mm LED panels are deployed.

66 panels of R10i/o LED panels, purchased by Operacija Trijumf production company Emotion Production, formed four screens on the stage.

"We choose the R10 panels partly on recommendation and partly because the only other LED screens currently in the region are 19mm pixel pitch," says Aleksandar Miljus of Emotion Production.

"We want to offer more versatile LED panels to the region and, after this series of Operacija Trijumf, we will be able to use the 10mm panels on a wide range of indoor and outdoor events. We will

France - The town of Asnières sur Seine just outside Paris has decided upon a new Innovason Sy80 digital mixing console to complete its AV inventory.

Thierry Plenier, who runs the AV department with department head William Baruch, comments: "I was fascinated by the Muxipaire (digital snake) when it first came out, and when we bought our first digital console in 2002, if I'd had the budget, I'd have bought a Compact Live. As it was, we went for another solution, which has served us well until now, but we are reaching the ceiling of its limitations in terms of mix capacity, and our analogue console just doesn't offer us the flexibility we need to handle monitors."

Regarding the Sy80, Plenier notes: "From a technical point of view, first and foremost, the sound quality is excellent. Secondly, to our huge delight, you don't have to configure your patch to the conso

Norway -projectiondesign will use Integrated Systems Europe 2009 to showcase a completely updated range of professional projectors, as well as the range of high-end home theatre products, and the latest in 3D stereographic projection systems.

Anders L°kke, international marketing and communications manager, notes the irony of projectiondesign this year choosing to showcase its products inside a 'blackbox'. "Given that many of our projectors are used in research applications which, for political, scientific, or commercial reasons are top-secret, it seems rather appropriate for us to showcase the latest fruits of our own R&D in a way that is controlled and discreet," he says.

Among the new products on view 'in the box' will be three revamped product platforms - the F12, F22 and F32 series - all of which are updated to feature performance enhancing VIDI lamp technol
