"We've been astonished and delighted," said Nick Cook, recently appointed general manager for Commercial Audio in the UK. "The level of interest in the M7CL has exceeded all our expectations. In the UK alone we've already sold over 40 units since PLASA, which must be something of a record."
Not only in the UK have sales exceeded all expectations, worldwide, over 250 sales have been made since the PLASA Show.
The new desk with its Centralogic interface is simplicity itself to use and is likely to appeal even to those purists who remain wedded to analogue desks. Chris Headlam of Orbital Sound is in no doubt of the desk's potential. "The M7CL is so clean and simple in it's approach. There is a whole section of the industry that feels intimidated by digital desks - those people will suddenly find with the M7CL that it's actually easier to use than its analogue counterparts. We see great potential for use throughout multi-performance venues, conference and theatre touring - it's a great sounding product that's a joy to mix with," said Headlam.
Derek Blair of Edinburgh-based The Warehouse commented on the M7CL: "The main attraction for us at Warehouse is the plug-and-play aspect of the desk; plug in mic, select channel, push up fader and you're away. That ease of use is the most important feature. Some of our clients are still quite hesitant to go down the digital route - small churches, self-contained conferencing services at individual venues, that sort of thing. I believe with the M7CL they will be happy to embrace the concept and the technology."
