The event pulled in more than 120,000 people over four days and Robe was the only moving light brand featured on this stage in a stunning production lighting design by Junior Luzbel, who heads the locally based company with his brother Ricardo Luzbel and his partner Ricardo Gordilho.

The lighting rig included 36 x Robin Pointes, 12 x Robin MMX Spots, 24 x LEDWash 1200s, 14 x ColorSpot 1200E ATs and 12 x ColorBeam 700E ATs.

The design process took about two weeks, during which Junior consulted with his crew and technicians and also to make sure he could satisfy all the artists' riders and create a plot that would fit most of their requirements.

One of the recent adopters has been Seattle band Pearl Jam, products of the city's rock explosion at the beginning of the 1990's.

Their lighting designer Kille Knobel (who has also worked with fellow Seattle rock band Soundgarden) has been with the band since the early part of the millennium - and this latest tour (which visits Europe in June), is her first outing with the X-5 strobes. Friday 21st March saw millions of viewers tune into BBC One and BBC Two to enjoy an evening of fun, comedy, entertainment and sport live from the Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford.

The ambitious production, set in the round, attracted rave reviews, with the Guardian praising its 'genuine theatrical spectacle', and the Express saying it was 'magnificently staged'.

The band embarked on a seven-week headline tour of Europe in mid-March with lighting designer Trevor Fairclough turning to Elation's Platinum Beam 5R Extreme for the punchy output and speed needed to keep up with the hard driving band.

MGG's newly appointed general manager, Denzil Smith, who joined the company in December, took the production to a new level. With a team of professionals at his side including lighting designer from MGG, Kevin Rieck, and the assistance of system technician, Thomas Peters, the event was technically flawless.

This was no mean feat as the event, which ran off a grandMA2 full size, included close to 150 Robe fixtures, 48 ClayPaky Sharpies (forty more Sharpies than last year) and some 400m of Prolyte Trussing besides a list of other fixtures.
