UK - Rental and technical solution specialist Universal Event Productions (UEP) has invested in more LED technology - this time from Danish-owned manufacturer SGM - to service their ongoing work and with some elements also specifically earmarked for the 2014 Chilfest event - UEP's very own highly successful summer music festival.

The latest purchase involves SGM XC5 RGB LED strobes, SP-6 SixPack pixel blinders and P-5 outdoor LED wash lights, all of which were delivered by SGM UK.

It also underlines UEP's ongoing commitment to investing in greener technology and using this where possible on shows and events. UEP was an early adopter of LED and digital lighting and around 80% of its lighting rental stock is now LED based.

McDowell, based in Austin, Texas, was most recently with Creative Stage Lighting as Western regional sales manager.

Phoenix4 Showcontroller is a solution for professional control of lasers, lighting and special effects. Royalties Record - Musicians in the UK earned £665.7m in royalties last year, according to PRS for Music. The organisation, which pays musicians when their songs are played on radio, or in concert, said revenues had increased 3.7% in the last year.

ITV Studios and GroupM Entertainment are the latest to have a go at mastering the format with new show Stand by Your Man, which is due to air on Channel 5 in June. The show will be hosted by Irish singer Brian McFadden and be co-hosted by rising star Laura Jackson.

Australia - Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast is Australia's premier theme park where movies come to life. Recently Movie World upgraded the park's main Main Street show and park general architectural lighting and a new lighting control system was required. Rather than an off the shelf, stock standard media server and lighting console, products were required that could be customized to suit the unique operating environment of a theme park.

MA Lighting consoles have been the console of choice for Village Roadshow Theme Parks since 2009 and fortunately they could meet this brief with one grandMA2 light, one MA onPC command wing and one MA onPC fader wing.

UK - Popular American punk pop band All Time Low recently took the UK by storm on their latest A Love Like tour, and part of their energy-fuelled performances was the lighting design created by Boston-based LD Jeff Maker. Lighting for the UK tour was supplied by Leeds-based rental company Zig Zag and included over 80 Robe moving lights including 54 Pointes, 12 LEDWash 600s and 12 LEDBeam 100s - all from Robe's Robin range.

Parnelli-nominated Maker has worked with the band since 2009 and his visual starting point for this tour was based on four different backdrop reveals throughout the set - a budget-friendly strategy to bring multi-layered looks and maximum dynamics to the stage and the pacey set.
