The Netherlands - Panasonic will introduce a new 20,000 lumens projector at ISE 2017 this week, a laser light source companion to the PT-DZ21K.
The PT-RZ21K is a three-chip DLP Solid Shine laser series aimed at the rental, events and large venue market. It is compatible with existing Panasonic lenses and comes in a similarly compact, lightweight body as the DZ21K, which became an industry essential since its launch in 2012.
The RZ21K generates up to 20,000 lm of brightness at WUXGA or SXGA+ resolution using dual solid-state laser drives. A durable dust-proof optical system means that the projector offers extended maintenance free operation beyond lamped rivals.

The Netherlands - NEC Display Solutions Europe has announced two laser-based additions to its PA Series of LCD projectors, taking low-maintenance operation to a new level. The new additions, the PA803UL and PA653UL models leverage a filter-free design, eliminating one of the biggest operational overheads normally found in installed projectors.
Designed with minimal maintenance in mind, the two new laser projectors also boast a fully-sealed optical engine, allowing brightness levels to remain high and consistent without risk of dust-based ingress and image degradation.

Australia - As part of their pitch for the rebranding of the Australian Open, Landor, Tennis Australia’s chosen branding agency, created a video rendering of their proposed logo. The rendering depicted a 3m high three-dimensional logo, complete with a video screen on its front and LED pixels covering the side surfaces.
Whilst not part of Landor’s actual deliverable, the concept inspired Tennis Australia to test the market to see if it were possible.

World - Underground electronic music duo, Dusky are steadily building a cult following as they play sold out dates, taking in numerous venues in the UK, North America and continental Europe.

Double Knight of Illumination winner, Will Potts designed the visual element of the show, with assistance from lighting director Adam Power. Will said, "Designing a rig which fits into numerous venues was the main consideration for this project. I chose to leave the physical design work flexible and in Adam's hands for the shows. He knows what each fixture has to achieve, so it's up to him to use the spaces and characteristics of each venue to the design's advantage. Having such a flexible approach is the most economical way of scaling the show up and down."

UK - British electronic duo Bondax have recently completed a tour which saw them visit venues around the United States before returning to the UK for shows culminating in a headline performance at London's Oval Space.

To create a tourable design for these shows, Bondax turned to designer Owen Pritchard-Smith of London-based Spirit Design. Owen had created a design for previous Bondax shows using lightboxes with the individual letters spelling out their name.

With this tour taking a step up in size and production values, Owen aimed to create a look for the band which incorporated both lighting and video, and offered flexibility for the range of different venues played. In addition, the company is set to demonstrate its live events capability, with a show combining laser projection technology, 3D mapping and performers interacting with moving projection courtesy of the newly launched PT-RZ31K, a 31,000 lumens laser projector developed for the live market.

World - Lighting designer Tom Campbell has selected an Avolites Tiger Touch II and backup Quartz to control his lighting design for metal-core band Bullet for my Valentine (BFMV) on their recent worldwide tour in support of their 2015 album Venom.
