UK - As PLASA Show 2015 opens its doors at ExCeL London, visitors from 101 different countries, with a combined purchasing power of over £3 billion, have registered to attend.

UK - After 2014's successful return to the PLASA Show, this year Yamaha is exhibiting on a bigger stand and, for the first time at the event, sharing it with Nexo and Line 6.

The companies are exhibiting on Stand K40, in a prime position opposite the PLASA Show Bar. The stand is at the heart of the Audio zone in PLASA Show's new layout, a zoned arrangement designed to make it easier for visitors to navigate the show floor.

With the first units due to arrive at dealers very soon, the Yamaha Rivage PM10 large format console is the centrepiece of the stand. Product specialists Andy Cooper and Wayne Powell are on hand to give hands-on demonstrations to engineers keen to familiarise themselves with it, as well as on Yamaha's CL, QL and TF consoles, which is also on display.

UK - PLASA Show 2015 marks the UK debut of the d&b audiotechnik V-Series point source loudspeakers. Launched earlier this month V7P, V10P and V-GSUB are on the d&b stand J50 alongside other mobile and installation products, and on d&b sales partners' SSE / Wigwam stand L10.

"PLASA London is a significant show for d&b this year," says Gianni Abruzzese, d&b GB commercial manager. Europe - With his eighth solo LP Tracker receiving much acclaim, guitarist and vocalist Mark Knopfler is in the midst of an eight month, 88-date world tour. A pair of DiGiCo SD7s is ensuring every nuance of these musically complex shows is heard clearly.

The tour is currently playing European arenas and festivals, with US and Canada theatres to follow. Front of House engineer Dave Dixon and monitor engineer Kerry Lewis are both mixing on DiGiCo SD7s.

"As well as Mark on guitar and lead vocals, the band features drums, bass guitar, two sets of keyboards, a second guitarist and two multi instrumentalists, who play a lot of different things including citterns, flutes, pipes and acoustic guitars," says Dave. "Mark and the second guitarist also play an array of electric and acoustic instruments, so there are around 90 inputs in total."

UK - SSE Audio Group has announced the development of a successor product to PROSIGHT, which was the first laser inclinometer product designed for setting the angle of speaker line arrays.

"We have been working on the development of Prosight2 for the last 18 months", commented SSE Sales Director, Alex Penn. "Our design brief was to create a more compact device that offered more features, but also that could be brought to market at a more competitive price point."

USA - The National Football League is implementing Green GO Digital Intercom across its Instant Replay and Injury Review systems this season. Through extensive testing, Green GO has modified existing products to more closely align with the NFL's specific requirements.

"We've been extremely pleased with the responsiveness and flexibility of Green GO and Nova Lume in developing products and software to meet our needs", says John Cave, vice president of information technology for the NFL. "It is important to us for Green GO to develop a solution that would last for many years and become standard product instead of a custom solution."

This year, 31 products were nominated for the Awards for Innovation & Sustainability, with eight awards presented, including a final Gold Award for Innovation.

The winners had to satisfy the judges that they demonstrate a new style of thinking, that they improve technical practice, have introduced new technologies, materials or techniques, that they feature patents or unique intellectual property, offer a new commercial advantage, or improve safety.

First, OBA fitted Martin Audio's new CDD installation series on the terrace, meeting rooms and meeting room balconies, before providing their own MLA Compact rental system for the six-day Championships televised around the world.

Sweden - Way Out West festival in Gothenburg offered an immersive showcase for the recently expanded Leo family systems from Meyer Sound. With the newest Leopard linear sound reinforcement system leading a family of Leeo and Lyon systems, Meyer Sound covered all four festival stages, supporting headliners such as Beck, Patti Smith, Florence and the Machine, Belle & Sebastian, and Pet Shop Boys. Stockholm-based Starlight provided all sound, lighting, and staging systems.
