The Netherlands - Self-powered Meyer Sound systems play an integral role in the 2014-15 Volvo Ocean Race, the prestigious globe-circling yacht sailing competition. Serving three venues in a temporary 'race village' at each of the 10 worldwide ports, Meyer Sound systems provide clear voice communication and musical backdrops. Bazelmans AVR of Veldhoven, the Netherlands is charged with system design and supply.

UK - Following a £5m refurbishment of Liverpool University's Senate Drum building, a new teaching facility, complete with advanced AV infrastructure, has been opened under the new name of the Brett Building.

Pure Audio Visual were awarded the contract for the upgrade, and the challenge of providing consistent audio in an acoustically awkward cylindrical shaped building has been met by specifying Martin Audio's DD6 Differential Dispersion technology enclosures.

Singapore - With an enviable pedigree of providing site wide fibre networks for major sporting opening and closing ceremonies, Optocore has now further boosted its impressive portfolio after a major system was deployed at the South East Asia Games in Singapore.

The ring system at the National Stadium was designed by major event company and long-standing Optocore customer, The Show Company (TSC) - who made a recent substantial investment with local distributors Total Solution Marketing (TSM).

Contracted by Sports SG, they added to their existing stock eight X6R-FX-8AE/8LO Optocore converters along with three X6R-FX-16MI, two X6R-TP-16MI, five X6R-TP-16LO interfaces, with a central DD8RP repeater. This enabled them to create a fibre backbone at the newly constructed 55.000-seat Singapore Sports Hub.

Germany - Although its current building was only completed in 1971, Theater Münster has a history going back over 300 years to the town's first theatre, known as the Comedy House which was located in the Roggenmarkt. Acting as a focal point for the city's artistic talent, today the venue comprises several buildings, all with their own auditoriums. Italy - Reggae and bass music specialists, Mungo's Hi Fi, has become the latest company to invest in Powersoft's K Series and X Series technology. Based in Glasgow, they made the short journey over the River Clyde to the home of the manufacturer's UK and Ireland distributor, CUK Audio to place the order - and CUK Audio general manager Stuart Cunningham confirmed that the sale of two X8s had represented the first of this product in the UK.

UK - Event communications company Show Hire made use of a QSC Q-Sys audio networking system at this year's Badminton Horse Trials, sponsored by Mitsubishi Motors. Based around a Core 500i processor, a PS-1600 paging station, and several I/O Frames, the Q-Sys installation, supplied by UK distributor Shure Distribution UK, was used to route and control public-address audio around the 1500-acre site.

"We've handled the public address at Badminton for a few years," explains Show Hire events manager Ross Slaughter, "and, until this year, we've always used analogue equipment, distributing audio signals using copper cable. Following our successful installation of Q-Sys at last year's Farnborough International Airshow, we thought we could bring the audio at Badminton into the digital age as well."

USA - A musical and cultural landmark featured in Richard Linklater's acclaimed film Boyhood and named one of the top 10 clubs in America by Rolling Stone, the Continental Club in Austin, Tex. has recently upgraded its house and monitor systems to new Meyer Sound loudspeakers. Audiences and artists alike immediately noticed the change in audio quality.

UK - A.C. Entertainment Technologies (AC-ET) Ltd. is hosting a two-day charity cycle ride between its High Wycombe and Leeds sales offices on 18th - 19th July 2015, to raise money in remembrance of a beloved colleague, the late Kevin Fitz-Simons.

Kevin held an important senior role as Northern Lighting Sales Manager in AC-ET's Leeds office. He was an extremely well liked and respected colleague, and a larger than life character. During his diverse career spanning over 30 years, Kevin built up an incredible number of customer relationships and friendships. He sadly passed away on 31st December 2013, aged 53.

Fair Pay - Apple Music reversed its payment policy, a day after the singer Taylor Swift said she was refusing to allow the company to stream her album 1989. In an open letter to Apple, Swift said she was withholding the record as she was unhappy with the three-month free trial offered to subscribers. Now Apple says it will pay artists for music streamed during trial periods. Swift had said the plan was "unfair", arguing Apple had the money to cover the cost. "I find it to be shocking, disappointing, and completely unlike this historically progressive and generous company. "We don't ask you for free iPhones. Switzerland - Merging Technologies reports that sales of its Hapi Networked Audio Interface have topped 400 in 11 months; rapidly catching its father, the Horus with sales in excess of 600 since 2012. Both units are fully AES67 compliant but with the added features and functionality afforded by Ravenna.

UK - Singer-songwriter Ben Howard's UK tour is keeping rental company Nitelites on its toes; with a band full of studio engineers, there really is no room for error. UK - Adlib has carried out a sound and lighting installation for Manchester Met Student Union (MMU's) new SU Hall - designing a flexible and integrated Harman Professional solution for a multitude of audio reinforcement duties.

Adlib was awarded the contract for the new £10m MMU SU Building, which is situated adjacent to the Union's Salutation pub, based on their design recommendations, and the relationship that has developed since the company first started supporting MMU with equipment rental and sales.

Overseen by Adlib's Ian Nelson, the design concept is aimed to maximise multiple use of a building involving a bar, multipurpose entertainment space, admin offices, a shop, café and conferencing facilities.
