USA - JR Clancy's PowerAssist counterweight automation system was awarded both the 2006 Live Design International Product of the Year in the Rigging and Staging category and the ESTA Dealers' Choice Product Award at LDI in Las Vegas.

We were very happy with the response at the show before Saturday night's awards, but we were really happy on Sunday morning," says Tom Young, vice president of marketing for JR Clancy. "We're particularly pleased by these awards because the LDI award is from judges who are end users and specifiers of the product and the ESTA award is from dealers, who we consider our partners."

UK - The Killers are often described as the 'Best British band to have come out of America'. James Gebhard has been the band's front of house engineer since the spring of 2004 and, wherever possible, uses a combination of DiGiCo D5 Live and XTA processing for their live performances.

Presently, Gebhard is using a stripped down version of the D5 with 46 inputs and nine or 10 outputs for PA routing depending on requirements. "I want to try and get into the console's snapshots function more," continues Gebhard. "We have a lot of instruments on stage, but they're only used in specific songs and it would a lot easier and simpler between song changes if I used snapshots.

"I think the D5 sounds great. I took out a competitor's console in the States because it's part of the tools of the trade and you should learn what's out there. It sounds good, but not as good as

Qatar - In early December as Doha, Qatar hosted the 15th annual Asian Games with an Opening and Closing ceremony befitting the world's top international sporting events. Although the Qatari capital uncharacteristically suffered the most rain locals could remember in years, including a downpour just 45 minutes before the Opening, it neither dampened the spirit of the Games nor affected the nearly 400 MAC 2000 Washes used on the production.

Distributed through Martin's Australian representative, Show Technology, the MAC 2000 Wash fixtures along with Atomic 3000 strobes and Stage Cyclos w
